The Southern Taekwondo Championships were hosted by Dorset Taekwondo Association on 31st May 1st June 2008 in Bournemouth.
The Saturday consisted of 115 Poomse competitors ranging from 8th Kup to 6th Dan. There were some excellent performances including gold medals going to some BTCB National Team Competitors. One of the many highlights was a gold medal in the Dan Grade +42 category going to Master Yousuf Dildar. The 1st Place team trophy for Poomse went to Premier Ki.
The Sunday was the biggest kyorugi competition hosted by Dorset TKD since 1995. They had 333 players in 34 teams, from 16kg peewees, to European standard competitors. Some of the categories had 15+ competitors in.
The competition started at 10.10am finishing at 7.15pm. During the competition 3 rings were continuously running bouts throughout the day.
The team trophy was won by:-
1st London Taekwondo Academy (102 points)
2nd Wessex Taekwondo (66 points)
3rd BTS (62 points)

After the event Master Naraine (Tournament Director) said The organising committee were a little worried that we had too many competitors which might result in a later finish. However, it all went smoothly with no protests and most coaches and players appreciating the bigger field We are always looking to improve for our next competition, but are becoming limited by the size of the sports centre!
The next competition in Bournemouth (just kyorugi) is the Dorset Championships on Sunday 26th October 2008.
