On December 15, 2008, at Ankara, Turkey, World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Executive Committee passed revisions to match rules and articles of association. Along with these revisions, WTF World Ranking was also approved by the committee. The final vote will take place from December of 2008 to January 2009 by an e-vote within the general assembly.

Important amendments that passed on this day include: 1. World Taekwondo Academy (WTA) will work under WTF's Education Committee on research. 2. WTF Education Committee will also act as WTF Training and Development Committee. 3. Addition of Technical Committee for Poomsae.

WTF Executive Committee also passed the changes to match rules: 1. Ring size will decrease from 10m x10m to 8m x 8m. 2. Scoring (Body shot: 1 point, Spinning kick: 2 points, Head shot: 3 points). 3. Reevaluate scoring and decision. 4. 7 point difference for the win and 12 point maximum. 5. Kyung-go, instead of deducting points, points will be added to the opponent's score. 6. Video review system. Video review system will take effect by July 2009 for the WTF World Cup Taekwondo Championships, after numerous trials before the event.

World Ranking system was also approved by the committee, which they plan to finalize the details by late January 2009.

After approving the revisions to the match rules and its departments, WTF also have rumoured to arrange a meeting between the WTF Special Electronic Hogu Committee with International Taekwondo Federation. The meeting is planned to be held in Azerbaijan, Baku on July of 2009.
